I first started purchasing Trevor James flutes for
my students after being urged by my colleagues in the RI Philharmonic to try
them. I discovered that they were very responsive with a beautiful sound and
excellent scale. The workmanship and finishing are second to none.
Trevor James has developed a plating process for their student flutes that is much more durable than conventional silver plating. The silver plated flutes are made of a nickel-silver alloy which is then silver plated. Since silver plating does not adhere particularly well to nickel-silver, Tevor James plates first with copper, and then twice with silver resulting in a heavier plating with much better adhesion.
